Rotterdam 1982 and the Origins of the Football League

Aston Villa was one of the twelve founding clubs of the Football League in 1888, based on an idea by its director William McGregor. The club has seven English championship titles, including the one in 1981, and most importantly a European Cup Winners' Cup won in Rotterdam in 1982 against Bayern Munich, with a goal from Peter Withe.
