From the 1930s Wunderteam to the Alaba Generation

In the 1930s, Hugo Meisl and Matthias Sindelar's Austria, nicknamed the Paper Man for his finesse, dominated continental football and reached the semi-finals of the 1934 World Cup. Twenty years later, the national team finished third in Switzerland after a 7-5 match against the host country, a game still considered one of the wildest in the tournament's history. Hans Krankl, goalscorer of the famous Córdoba 1978 against West Germany, and then David Alaba have extended this legacy to the present day.
